Failing an Online Course

Failing an Online Course
A2 Virtual+ is committed to helping students succeed in online learning. When a student does not pass an online course, the next step is to review what happened and determine the best path forward.
Enrollment Restriction in the Same Content Area
If a student fails an online course, they may not enroll in another online course in the same content area for two years following the failed course.
Requesting an Online Course in a Different Content Area
If a student has failed an online course but would like to enroll in an online course in a different content area, the student and parent/guardian must schedule a meeting with the A2 Virtual+ principal.
The purpose of this meeting is to:
- Review the factors that contributed to the failed course
- Discuss study habits, time management, and organization
- Determine whether the student is ready to return to online learning with a stronger plan for success
Our Commitment to Student Success
In many cases, students do not fail online courses because they are unable to learn the material. More often, difficulties are connected to:
- Time management
- Organization
- Work habits
- Other personal or life skills that affect course completion
This process is designed to support students in building the skills needed for future success.
Summer Course Option
Students may choose to enroll in an online course during the summer at their own expense.
Important Note
This policy is included on the enrollment form signed by the student, parent/guardian, and counselor before the course begins.
