Extension Policy
Extensions are intended for students who experience illness or extenuating circumstances that prevent them from following the course pacing guide. Students must continue making consistent progress outside of the affected time period.
How to Request an Extension
- Submit the Extension Request Form
- Verbal agreements with instructors will not be honored
- Include a signed plan for completing remaining coursework
- Submit all materials at least two weeks before the end of the term
- Requests are reviewed by the A2 Virtual+ principal
Extension Limits
- Maximum of two (2) extensions per term
- Extensions are limited to 1–2 weeks
Eligibility Requirements
- Completion of most required course content (ALEKS courses may vary)
- Earned 45–59% of total course points
- Consistent engagement of at least 5 hours per week
If an Extenuating Circumstance Occurs
- Contact the A2 Virtual+ instructor listed in PowerSchool
- Provide details about the situation, duration, and return date
- For medical situations, notify both the instructor and principal
- Provide a doctor’s note when applicable
Middle School Limitation (Grades 5–8)
Extensions are not granted to students enrolled in more than one math course per semester. Students and parents agree that coursework will be completed by the end of the term.
Michigan Virtual Courses
Extension requests are determined by the Michigan Virtual administration and must be submitted through the A2 Virtual+ mentor.
