Expectations

Expectations for Students, Parents, and Staff

A2 Virtual+ works best when students, families, and staff all understand their roles. The expectations below are designed to help support a successful online learning experience.

Student Expectations

  • Complete an orientation at the beginning of each term for each class.
  • Work consistently online by completing the required work listed on the pacing guide each week.
  • Check email frequently throughout the week; this is how A2V+ staff will communicate with students.
  • Complete the course by the posted end date of the term.
  • Keep appointments made with A2 Virtual+ staff.
  • Advocate for yourself with the teacher listed in PowerSchool by emailing or setting up a meeting when you need help.
  • Complete Weekly Attendance every Wednesday.
  • Be honest and do your own work.
  • Complete two proctored assessments for each class each term by the deadline listed in the term calendar.
  • Monitor your official grade in PowerSchool.
  • Take all required district tests, including pre- and post-tests when required for a class.
  • Contact your online instructor or mentor as soon as possible when extenuating circumstances or longer health concerns arise.

Parent Expectations

  • Use the A2 Virtual+ webpage to find resources and answers to questions.
  • Monitor student progress in Schoology and official grades in PowerSchool.
  • Review grades in PowerSchool with your student at least once each week.
  • Check email frequently throughout the week; this is how A2V+ staff will most commonly communicate with families.
  • Encourage your student to stay on pace and complete Weekly Attendance every Wednesday in Schoology.
  • Encourage your student to advocate for themselves.
  • Contact the student’s online instructor or mentor as soon as possible when extenuating circumstances or extended health concerns arise.
  • Arrange transportation for your student to attend proctoring sessions.

Staff Expectations

  • Provide regular, documented, and ongoing instructional interaction with students.
  • Respond to emails within 24 hours Monday through Friday, excluding holidays and breaks.
  • Grade and return assignments with constructive comments within one week.
  • Regularly update PowerSchool. Grades will be updated each week.
  • Inform students and parents when a student is not on pace to earn credit in the course.
