When students are accelerating in math, it is important to look at the full picture and think about math course planning through high school. Use the information below to help decide whether this program supports your student’s learning goals.
Important Planning Notes
Plan with the full sequence in mind
Students and families should think beyond the current school year and consider how accelerated math coursework will fit into the student’s long-term path through high school.
Recommended classroom entry point
We recommend accelerated math students are in the classroom beginning no later than Geometry AC.
Maximum acceleration in one year
Students are limited to completing two years of math classes in one school year.
Example
For example, a 7th-grade student could complete Math 7 and Algebra 1 in one school year.
Enrollment Windows and Start Dates
The dates below reflect the 2025–2026 school year. Updated dates for the upcoming school year will be posted when available.

Important Placement Information
It is always at the discretion of A2 Virtual+ whether a student has enough time to advance to the next class and still complete the full term. This decision is based on previous progress during the year. Students who do not advance to the next level will be placed in a math enrichment module. Math Acceleration students are not eligible for an extension.

Understanding Course Labels
The general distinction for courses with the AC designation is that they are designed for students with above-average interest in mathematics who plan to study college calculus in high school. AC courses normally cover all the topics of the basic courses, but in greater depth and at a more intensive pace.
The distinction between AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC is that AP Calculus AB covers one term of college calculus, while AP Calculus BC covers two terms of college calculus.
Additional math choices include, but are not limited to, AP Computer Science and other Computer Science courses.
