Sequence of Math Classes

When students are accelerating in math, it is important to consider the full picture and think of math classes through high school.

Use the chart below to help you determine if participating in this program will help you achieve your learning goals.

We recommend accelerated math students are in the classroom beginning no later than Geometry AC.

Starting in the Fall of 2024, students will be limited to completing two years of math classes in one school year. For example, a 5th-grade student would be able to complete Math 6 and Math 7 in one school year.

It is always at the discretion of A2Virtual+ as to whether a student has sufficient time to advance to the next class and still be able to complete the full term. The decision is based on previous progress during the year. Students who do not advance to the next level will be placed in a math enrichment module. Math Acceleration students are not eligible for an extension.

Math Class Sequence

The general distinction for courses with the “AC” designation is that AC courses are designed for students with above average interest in mathematics who plan to study college calculus in high school. The AC courses normally cover all the topics of the basic courses but in greater depth and at a more intensive pace.

The distinction between AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC is that the AB version covers one term of college calculus and BC covers two terms of college calculus.
